Delhi-Jaipur-Agra-Varanasi in april
Hi all !
I have travelled the world over but have'nt been to the Indian subcontinent yet. So this will be my introduction to India. As I am tight in timeframe, I had following itinerary in mind... Day 1: Arrive Delhi. Day 2: Delhi full day visit Day 3: Delhi to Jaipur. Day 4: Jaipur. Day 5: Jaipur to Agra. Day 6: Agra (a.m. Taj Mahal) to Delhi in time to connect SG 114 to Varanasi. Day 7: Varanasi full day. Day 8: Varanasi outbound. My one big question is: Shall I do this completely independent (I am a single traveler) or better to book this itinerary in advantage with a local touragent ? Anyone can recommend me a reliable agency who offers honest prices. A private aircon car with driver is perhaps my best option to get around these places. (??) I could book accomodation and domestic flights myself online but to hire a private car with local driver/guide to bring me around looks a bit more complicated without the assistance of a domestic agent. Any suggestions and input much appreciated. Eddy

Go on your own. I can recommend a car service if you PM me.
You'll save a ton of money by setting stuff up yourself. You'll be able to pick your hotels, places to see, etc. Lisa |

Hello Eddy and welcome to indiamike.com
You'll be able to send and receive private messages once you have 10 posts, this is for your own benifit as well as that of our other members. An overnight train from Agra to Varanasi would take about 12 hours, perfect for a sleep. The time and cost of getting from Agra to Delhi, checking in at the airport, then getting from Varanasi airport to the hotel, then sleeping at night in the hotel, can you imagine the hotel upgrades you could have if you chose the train? Just one more thing, the train is one of the 'must do' experiences in India.

Hi Eddy,
I'll be doing the same Golden Triangle route that you're following (minus the Varanasi part), beginning on Sunday, 20 April. If you're interested in a travel partner, please reply here! |

Hi Kristen,
I'm so sorry to inform you that I changed my itinerary as I was told it will be so freakin hot during that time of the year. I will postpone this trip. However, I am coming to New Delhi and arrive this fridaynight around midnight to depart for Nepal on april 19. I have such a deal there ! I'll be spending 1 week Nepal split up between Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara. After that, I'll return to India for a short 2-night visit to Varanasi. I am going then to Phuket for another 14 days. Pity because I like to meet people and make new friends. I appreciate your invitation and would have liked to share the trip with you. Eddy www.globetrotters.be |

I'm thinking of doing the Golden Triangle about a week after you. I'd be very interested if you find it too hot or not. |

Would you let me know which car service you recommended to Eddy? I'll be in Agra in a few weeks and would like to hire a car for transport to Jaipur. I really appreciate it! JL |
