delhi -> agra -> khajuraho -> varanasi -> goa

hallo,
we wanted to make the trip: delhi-agra-khajuraho-varanasi-goa
we will arrive in delhi on 03.03.08 and after about 10 or 12 days we would like to be in goa.
what's the best way for doing this trip? by train, by air, by taxi... are there nice places between this cityies to make a stop?
can somebody help me?

In 2006 I made a loop from Varanasi to Khajuraho/Orrcha, Agra and Mathura (then back to Varanasi). Did the whole thing with a hired car and driver. Loved it. On four previous trips to India I'd always wanted to do a loooooong road trip; was worth the wait. I could start and stop when I wanted; stay another day if the place appealed to me. Maybe consider doing either a round trip from Delhi or go one-way from Delhi to Varanasi by car then train from Varanasi. I made my trip in March/April in a non-AC Ambassador; any later than April consider an AC car.
