Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, but I love what I've read so far. You guys are great with all the insider info and stuff! Here's the scoop - My wife, her family and I are going to India in November for my brother's wedding. The wedding will take place in Gwalior, UP. Since I've never experienced the wonders of the "golden triangle" (sad state given I'm an expat!) I wanted to see the Taj, Red Fort and Fatehpur on the way to Gwalior. I'd love to hear your advice/thoughts/warnings on my planned itinerary - there will be five of us traveling - here we go: Arrive in Delhi in the afternoon on the 21st. (I don't know where we are staying yet, but the Master Guest house seems to have good recommendations.) Go to Agra early in the morning (22nd) - I am favoring taking the train, but maybe a hire car would be better? - settle in and see the Taj/Red Fort. The next day (23rd, Friday) see Fathepur - then head down to Gwalior for 2 days, and celebrate the wedding Head back to Delhi, via Agra (26th) and try to catch the Taj in the morning Stay in Delhi on the 26th, fly out on the 27th. Whew! I think it is a reasonable itinerary, but I am very torn about whether to stick to trains/taxis or to just hire a van and have them drive us everywhere? Can anyone vouch for a reliable hire-car service? Are the distances between Delhi-Agra-Gwalior reasonable to drive between? So many questions...such little time before the trip! Thanks for all your help. I'm eagerly awaiting all of your advice, Thanks, Chandra ![]() |

I think the one in Agra is also called Red Fort. It leads to confusion more often here
