Conundrum
We are planning a 10 day vacation at North India. We are covering Delhi, Agra, Jaipur for sure.
We are confused between chosing the below a. Shimla (via Toy Train) b. Mussorie We could only afford one of them (due to time constraints). Please suggest. Are there any other hill stations/mountain regions where we can relax ? (other than the above two). I am not sure about nainital. |

Need more information. How many days do you have, Delhi to Delhi, for the hills alone?
I hope 10 days is not your entire trip including Agra and Jaipur, because then you will be rushing around. The entire Himalaya is there within striking distance from Delhi, btw ![]() |

We arrive on 23rd Afternoon. We leave on 31st.
We have 10 full days to spend. We will cover the Golden Triangle (Delhi - Agra - Jaipur) in two days via an pre-arranged trip. So we have 8 days remaining to be spent. |

With 8 days in hand you could consider forraying further in Rajasthan. The weather will be brilliant in Rajasthan.
If you are looking for a quiet place in the hills to chill I suggest Chail or Kasauli in Himachal. You can visit Shimla from Chail very easily. |

The bigger hill stations you could choose from: Nainital or Mussoorie in Uttarakhand or Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. These are touristy towns, though from each of these you could make trips to quieter/more scenic areas. If you want to spend more time in smaller places, my personal preference is Uttarkhand- do check the forum here for places like Ranikhet, Binsar, Jageshwar, Mukhteshwar etc. Accessibility wise, both Shimla and Uttarakhand are quite easy.. A train from Delhi for a few hours and a hired car (or the toy train in Shimla's case)- or a hired car Delhi/Delhi depending on your budget and how much you want to drive around in the 8 days out there. |

I would go with Capt's reco. If you have to go to a big hill station - it has to be Nainital which is much better than Shimla and Mussorie. More beautiful, less crowded and has a lot of good day trip possibilities.
