Cochin to Ooty to Bangalore

Hi,

I need some expert advice, as my research on this has warranted no good results.

I am planning to leave kumarokom on sunday night and get back to Bangalore by wednesday. I was thinking of travelling from Cochin to Ooty to Bangalore, but i also wanted to arrange trip on the Toy Train within that time. I understand that i'll need to go through coimbatore as well.

Can you tell me if this would be feasible, and if so, what the best travel plan would be?

Thanks ever so much

If you only want to sit in a car, it's doable.....

I've done this & (from memory), it's a case of going:
- car to Mettupalaiyam
- toy train from Mettupalaiyam to Coimbatore
- Car from Coimbatore to Ooty
- car from Ooty to Bangalore.

This journey was 4 years back, so my memory is a little rusty on all the details.

Cheers

Zoltan, you're slightly off, I think.
- car to Coimbatore, overnight
- car (or train) to Mettupalayam
- toy train to Ooty, overnight
- car to Bangalore (or to Mysore and then train to Bangalore)

Almost certainly; as mentioned above, it was 4 years back.

Glad that you could fill in the blanks for the OP.

Cheers

Good day,

If you Hire a car & driver for the whole Journey,
ie; Kumarakom to Bangalore via Ooty & Mysore.

Depart Kumarakom around 20:00hrs to 2100hrs(8-9pm)
This will give you ample time to get to Metapalyum
via Coimbatore. You need to get to Metapalyum by
7am to secure a ticket at the Station for Train to Ooty.Second class is Fine, try and sit on left hand side of carriage for better views, beware of
Touts offering to purchase ticket for you, some have the reputation of mysteriously dissappearing
with the train Fare.If you are not confident lining up for ticket purchase ask your driver to
get into the ticket office line.If you let a tout
to purchase a ticket for you, just let him know you will be standing nearby.

Ask your driver to meet you in Ooty, Monday and
Tuesday night in Ooty, Depart reasonably early
Wednesday morning (7am) and take back road out of Ooty (through wildlife park)for Mysore & Bangalore.
I actually stopped for Lunch(Silver Thali)at a
Beaut Palace converted into Hotel,Lalitha Mahal Palace
Hotel,sounding something like that.I didn't Imagine I could
Afford to have lunch there until I looked at menu & prices.
Fantastic Thali,Lassi & Kulfi Ice Cream to finish Off,Yummy.

I would imagine the cost of the car(indica)and
Driver would be in the vicinity of 5000rps incl
of Fuel & State border Taxes.I had my meals with
my driver and picked up the tab.
