Chardham Yatra

Hello,

We are planning a Chardham Yatra in July 09. We are looking for the best hotels available for the tour with western facilities. My travel agent recommended Chardham Camps. Is it the best available accomodation for the tour? Does any one know if we will need room heater during that time?

Chardham Camps are good ! But there are other better places also. Like Badrinath has Sarovar Portico Hotel. What are the towns/cities/places that you are planning to stay at ?

Here is my itinerary for Chardham Yatra. I would apprecicate any feedback on that.

Day 1- 4 Haridwar - MUSSOORIE – BARKOT
Over night at CHARDHAM CAMP.

Day 5 BARKOT : Barkot/ Janakichatti –Yamunotri- Janakichatti
Over night at CHARDHAM CAMP.

Day 6 BARKOT - HARSHIL
Over night at Chardham camp.

Day7 HARSHIL – GANGOTRI - UTTARKASHI
Over night at chardham Camp/Uttarkashi

Day 8 UTTARKASHI - GUPTAKASHI
at Chardham Camp . Over night at Chardham Camp.

Day 9 GUPTAKASHI – Kedarnath – Joshimath
We can take Helicopter to Kedarnath. If So than this we will stay in Joshimath.

Over night in Joshimath at Chardham Camp.

Day 10 JOSHIMATH – BADRINATHI APX 50 KMS
Overnight. at Badrinath at Sarovar Portico.

Day 11 BADRINATHJI– RUDRAPRAYAG
Over night at hotel Monal In Rudra Prayag.

Day 12 RUDRAPRAYAG – RISHIKESH
Overnight at Hotel Vasundra Palace
Day 13 RISHIKESH - CHANDIGARH

Ummm, you are not doing the trek to Gomukh, are you?

I guess not - as you are going till Uttarkashi the same day.

Just curious, may be you dont have the time needed. But in case you have, you may want to check this option out.

Well, time is an issue, also, my daughter may not be able to survive the trek.

We, a group of three couple planning to visit chardham in 1st-2nd week of October,2012. kindly look into the itinerary and place your valuable comments/tips.

Day 1: Howrah to Hardwar by UPASANA EXPRESS at 1.10 p.m.
Day 2: Hardwar on 3.57 p.m.
On arrival in Haridwar check-in to your Hotel. Visit Har-ki-Pauri for Ganga Aarti in evening. Overnight stay in Haridwar.
Day 03: Haridwar - Bartok (220kms/7hr)
Drive to Barkot via Dehradun & Mussoorie. Enroute visit Kempty Fall and others later drive straight to Barkot. Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 04: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot {36kms drive & 7kms Trek (one side)}
After early breakfast drive to Hanuman Chatti, from here you have to hire local jeeps for Janki chatti (It helps to reduce the trek upto 8 kms, Local Taxi hiring charges are not included), trek start from here to Yamunotri (6kms). Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost. After Yamunotr temple visit and Pooja drive back to Barkot. Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 05: Barkot - Uttarkashi (100kms/4hr)
After early breakfast drive to Uttarkas. On arrival check-in to hotel. After relax visit Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Day 06: Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Uttarkashi (100kms/3hr each side)
After early breakfast we proceed to Gangotri (3048 mts), enroute we enjoy picturesque view of Harsil village, Bhagirathi River and the most glorious view of the Himalayas. After Gangotri visit we return to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay in Haridwar
Day 07: Uttarkashi - Guptkashi (230kms/9hr)
After Early breakfast , drive to Guptkashie en-route you will get opportunity to see the Tehri Dam one of the Biggest Dam in Uttrakhand. On Arrival check-in to Camp. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Day 08: Guptkashi – Kedarnath (20 kms by road & 14kms Trek)
After breakfast today morning you will drive to Gaurikund by Car and then Trek start from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (3584 mts) on foot or on by pony / Doli. Tour members should carry personal medicines, heavy woolen, toiletries and clothes for an overnight halt at Kedarnath. On arrival check-in to hotel ( Basic Accommodation). Later on visit Kedarnath Temple. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.
Day 09: Kedarnath - Guptkashi (14Kms Down Trek & 20 kms/ by Road)
Early morning, after Temple Darshan trek down to Gaurikund where your vehicle will be waiting for you. Drive to Guptkashi . Overnight stay.
Day 10: Guptkashi - Badrinath (225kms/8hr)
After early breakfast drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. On arrival check in to hotel. Later at evening visit Badrinath Temple for Aarti. Overnight stay.
Day 11: Badrinath – Joshimath - Rudraprayag (160kms/6-7hr)
Early morning, pilgrims after having a bath in the Taptkund have the Darshan of Badrivishal. Brahamakamal is significant for Pinddan Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are other interesting sightseeing spot like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the "Mukh" of the Saraswati River. Just within the three kms of Badrinathjee. Later drive back to Rudraprayag via Joshimath. On arrival check-in to hotel in Rudraprayag. Overnight stay in Rudrapryag.
Day 12: Rudraprayag – Rishikesh (254kms/8hr)
After breakfast you will drive back to Rishikesh. Evening visit Ashram and enjoy the Ganga Aarti. Overnight stay.
Day 13: Hardwar - Delhi - Howrah
early in the morning we rich Hardwar Railway station the take train to Delhi name 12056 NDLS JANSHATABD at 6.22 a.m.
the rich Delhi about 11.15a.m the take lunch and go back to station and take train to Howrah name 12314 SEALDAH RJDHANI at 16.30 p.m.
Day 13Delhi - Howrah

I have certain queries also.
1. will our spouses be able cope up with the altitude?
2. are the GMVN guest houses the best option to stay?
3. do all the GMVN guest houses have geyser facility?
4. what would be approx. cost of travera/qualis for whole chardham tour?

only kedarnath is the place where yatris can feel altitude pressure... but since you are doing all 4 Dhams, you body will be acclimatized by the time you will reach Kedarnath..
have seen lots of kids below 5 years and seniors above 65 enjoying all the Dhams.. if there is any history of Asthama and BP, then DO carry all medicines. also should consult a Doc..
GMVN is always the best place to stay.. best in terms of location, prices and services...
if possible GMVN will have geysers all over..
in hills the rent is per day irrespective of KMs run.. Innova/xylo is around 3500 per day.. tavera/qualis are not much in market...
