I have W/L 4 in train no. 2864 for 9th October (which is just tomorrow ). I had booked the ticket online.

I do not want to travel in RAC, so I just asked at 011-23340000 whether can I cancel the ticket if I get RAC after the chart preparation. I was told by a represntative at customer care that there is no RAC in AC 2-tier and it will be either waiting list or confirmed.

So is it so.. there is no RAC in AC 2-tier? Just want to confirm. I don't want to see RAC after chart preparation at any cost!!

RAC --- Reserved Against Cancellations

In general, 2AC has RAC, yes. I don't know if there is anything specific about your train.

What is your problem with RAC? It gets you on the train, in your 2AC carriage, and almost certainly gets you a proper berth when the TTE sorts everybody out

Thanks, I saw that for 2nd-6th Nov, the status for AC 2-tier is in RAC. But what do you mean by a proper berth ? I thought that in RAC you have to share a berth between two.

Unless a berth opens up for you (very likely) through cancellation.
