BodhGaya - Darjeeling-Nepal - Tibet?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right section in which to post this, so please forgive me if its not.

I am currently in Bodhgaya - staying at the root institute , which is very nice.

In about a week or so I wish to leave Bodh Gaya and catch a train to darjeeling (will get to Kolkata first) then up to Silguir(sp).

From Darjeeling i would like to visit Nepal and from there get a plane? to Dharamasla.

Does this sound like the most logical way to make my way across the north?

An is it possible to get a visa at the airport or somewhere, so that i can visit tibet and china??

Anyhelp would be much appreciated,

regards,

Indian Noob (Jamie)

From Darjeeling you can come to Siliguri and enter Nepal through Kakarvita,a border town. Its an hour and half drive from Siliguri. From there you can go to Bhadrapur, again about an hours drive to cathch a flight to Kathmandu or other wise come to Kolkata by train and catch a flight to Kathmandu. From Nepal only way to reach Dharamsala is via Delhi by flight and then on surface.I am not very sure about availability of visa for China or Tibet at airport as these days of turbulance, getting visa for Tibet has become bit difficult.

Pff. No idea.

There's supposed to be a border crossing into Nepal from northern West Bengal alright.

Travel to Tibet as you may or should have gathered isn't said to be easy; try http://www.seat61.com/Nepal.htm and other relevant sections of that site (note its China section). btw With the games on it's anyone's guess how easy it is to get around there right now. Probably not very.

In many places in Asia you won't be able to get around by just getting a visa on landing anyway, I don't know what gave you this idea. Let alone to a place like Tibet, you must have heard something about it before.
