Bhubaneswar - Puri - Konark - Varanasi
That's it mind finally made up ...
From Bhubaneswar prefably in a straight route which would the first place of call be suitable - Puri or Konark - depending there may be a bit of back tracking should i prefer one place over the other and availabity of transport - i don't mind travelling on the so called "luxury" buses. Puri or Konark is it possible to get a direct train to Varanasi or do i have to back track to possibly Bhubaneswar. Thanks for any advice and your time. on rotation - Dead Can Dance - Wake - 2 CD Peace Mm56 |

Train 2815 departs Puri (M, W, Th, Sa.) at 10:50, then Bhubaneshwar at 12:20 and gets to Mughal Sarai (18 Kms from Varanasi) at 04:50 (2A, 3A, SL.) (hopefully it will arrive an hour or so late)
Train 2875 departs Puri (Tu, F, Su.) at 10:50, then Bhubaneshwar at 12:20 and gets to Varanasi at 07:35 (2A, 3A, SL.)

From what I remember many, may years ago, Bhubaneswar (commonly called BBSR), Puri and Konark are the 3 ends of a Y. Let us say that BBSR is at the bottom of the Y. If we drove we would come to a fork - one direction would lead to Puri and the other to Konark. There used to be talk about a road connecting Puri and Konark - I don't know if it was ever built. In any case, one could go first to BBSR, then Konark, then Puri and on to Varanasi.
Cheers Nattusbs (PS: I lived in BBSR from 1966-81). |

I've been in the area a couple of years ago, from Bbsr first to Konark, stayed overnight, then headed to Puri and back to Bbsr the same day. All this in a rikshaw, was fun. Prefered by far Konark to Puri though, but maybe we just didn't know much about the place anyway. Loved the sunrise on the Konark beach, lots of people join.
