Best way from DELHI to VARANASI?

need to go to varanasi from dehli on the 26th of June. Fastest way? Good places to stay in varanasi? Hurrah!

1. A quick way to get there is to fly.

2. A good place to stay is "hotel ganges view", on Assi Ghat. We stayed there couple of times with our family.

if train is your choice of transport, look for trains going to "Moghulsarai junction", its just 20 mins by taxi from varansi.

you will have plenty of trains, look for delhi-calcutta or, delhi-bhuvaneshwar rajdhani express trains, those are the fastest trains.

What about going to varanasi by bus...any info on that..how many hours etc...?

As about where to stay check the hotel listing..there are few reccomendations!
There where some complains though about the "ganges view hotel" lately in the forum...u can check it as well!

Delhi to Varanasi

The following are the best timed overnight trains. (assuming you want to travel overnight)

Train 2560 departs New Delhi daily at 18:25 and gets to Varanasi Jn at 07:30.

Train 2562 departs New Delhi daily at 20:40 and gets to Varanasi Jn at 08:45.

Both trains will cost: -

First class air con = Rs 2395
2-tier air con = Rs 1272
3-tier air con = Rs 826
Sleeper class (not air con) = Rs 313


Varanasi to Delhi

Train 2559 departs Varanasi daily at 18:45 and gets to New Delhi at 07:45 (1A, 2A, 3A, SL.)

Train 2381 departs Varanasi (W, Th, Su.) at 19:50 and gets to New Delhi at 08:10(1A, 2A, 3A, SL.)

Mughal Sarrai is 17 Kms from Varanasi.

Train 2303 departs Mughal Sarrai (M, Tu, F, Sa.) at 20:40 and gets to New Delhi at 08:10. (1A, 2A, 3A, SL.)

Train 2393 departs Mughal Sarrai daily at 21:35 and gets to New Delhi at 08:50. (1A, 2A, 3A, SL.)

Train 2401 departs Mughal Sarrai daily at 22:40 and gets to New Delhi at 11:45. (1A, 2A, 3A, SL.)



You will do well to get a reservation for the 26th June, I was unable to check availability at this time.


Indian Airlines flight IC806 departs Delhi at 09:55 and gets to Varanasi at 11:10. ($135.5)

I feel abused.

Try riding the bus from Delhi to Varanasi. Then you'll really feel abused ha ha ha! Seriously, I'd guess a bus, if there was even a "fast" service, would take at least 24 hours. Until that new superhighway is completed it's going to be just about the slowest, noisiest way to get there. For long distance travel a train is preferable.

You got it! This 'Government Deluxe bus even had a woman vomiting out the window for 5 hours. The funny thing was that the guy sitting behind her, shut his window after the 3rd hour of vomiting.

Train 2506 departs New Delhi daily at 06:40 and gets to Mughal Sarai at 18:10 (2A, 3A, SL.)

This train fills quickly, so book as far in advance as you can.

I think I'd stay in Delhi for the day and take one of the overnight trains.

Are there any updates on ganges view hotel in Varanasi?

Hi, im just wondering if anyone can lend me some advice on which train "class" to take? Is sleeper class that bad?? Should i opt for the more expensive to save a horrific journey?

Any advice is much appreciated. x
