bangalore to pondicherry 1 week september2009

Hi,
Am planning a trip from B'lore to Pondicherry end September. need help on following:
- what's the easiest/ quickest way to reach pondy by road
- can anybody suggest a good travel agency for booking an ac car for to and fro as well as intra city travel. pls indicate rates
- a good safe place to stay, since we have 2 small kids and my aged mother with us.
- what places to visit

travelnovice,

1. Blore to pondy - by road - is about 320 to 350 kms. route is via hosur, krishnagiri, tiruvannamalai....7 hours to drive - at a minimum.

2. there are other threads on the same topic where have made good recos on accomodation.......ginger pondy is also one of the options. you would be better searching through other threads on the same topic also.

3. there is also a night train that goes from blore to villupuram / pondy - but only on selected days of week. check out if your intended dates and train dates are similar. that can make your travel much more comfortable.

4. If you are planning to visit only pondy, chennai is a nearer base compared to bangalore. if u have other plans in bangalore, then it is fine.
