This time I am going to shelve the usual B'lore-Salem-Thrissur route for a more exciting (and winding) trip. Plan is:
Bangalore- Nanjangud - Gudalur- Nilambur- Shornur- Thrissur I would like to do some sightseeing in Nanjangud (Temple, River), Gudalur and then do the Nilambur - Shornur Train. That means a stay is unavoidable. But where? In Nilambur, any hotels? ( I aint looking for luxury ones.. Just a clean bed and toilet would do great). Also, how is the frequency of buses between Gudalur and Nilambur? The train from Nilambur is at 9.30, so I am very interested in a Morning journey between Gudalur and Nilambur. If it is possible that is. Also, all the sights in Gudalur appears to be ~ 10 KM from the town. Is any public transport available to any of these places? Lastly, any other suggestions on the itinerary? Share your ideas. Many Thanks in advance! |

Welcome to IM Brother !
In Gudalur , no Real tourist places near by . All the tourist places are in Gudalur- ooty road [ View points are nice and I did it in car and I haven't seen any buses stopping in any of those scenic points . I assume you are going to use public transportation] OR Gudalur-Calicut road ! Just thought of adding the info which I know and experienced ! Happy travelling ! And Nice user id ! Thanks a lot, pmvelu.
So guess I would travel early morning from Bangalore-Nanjangud, move around, then travel to Gudalur, talk to some bus folks whether they would give me a drop at one of the view points, if not I should hitchhike (yea, a little fantasizing ), then come back and sleep in Gudalur. But then there should be an early morning bus to Nilambur so that I can catch the 9.30 AM train. Else I should move to Nilambur on the first day itself and stay there. Looking for comments and more details on Gudalur-Nilambur. Thanks a lot once again! |
