Hi,

I'm a 22 years old italian girl. In October l'm going to Kundapur to begin a volunteer project with FSL.

Could you advice me how to reach Kundapur from Bangalor the international airport?

I'm a little bit worried cause l'm a young, female and lonely traveller.. don't l have to feel so, do l?!

Not sure whether you are planning to use Public transportation, If so , the following hint will help you !

1.You could catch a Volvo bus / Taxi from Bangalore international airport to Bangalore City JN

2. From Bangalore City JN, you could Board the Mangalore Train [Train #6517 which departs at 20:55 from Bangalore JN and arrives at Mangalore @ 08:30 am the next day] --> Advance Reservation is Very much advisable as this is the ONLY train which connects both the cities !

3. From Mangalore,again you could catch a Train to Kundapura [ Which is around 2 Hours Journey [But train frequency is less] OR
a bus to Kundapura [ Which will take around 2.5 Hours and this is Via Temple town of Udupi]

Thanks a lot for the accurate answer.

I was suggested to use a volvo bus to reach directly Kundapur from Bangalor. Do you agree? the way is more direct then with the train, less comfortable but what l need is that it's safe.

I guess the private companies are more comfortable to ride for me (young, female, huge backpack) then the pubblic ones; Could you suggest me a private company name and a way to assure me this bus journey from here (booking on internet or phone)?

Yes, You are right .That will be a more straight forward way.

I told about train for comfort but yes volvo A/c Might be a nearer match and no need to change buses / trains in-between & volvo might take around 10 hours + to cover this distance !

Karnataka Government Volvo Buses are really really on par with private buses and Volvo buses expecially are maintained very well .

You could reserve based on your Date & time of Arrival [ Leaving 2 Hours for the commute between Bengalore international Airport to Bangalore Majestic Bus stand / Kempegowda bus stand from where the outstation buses departs !!

Please check www.ksrtc.in for timings and reservations.

You need to select "Airavath" for bus type [Airavath is the generic name given to all Volvo buses of Karnataka] & provide Coondapur as the destination [For Kundapur].

There are around 5 direct volvo buses between Bangalore & Kundapur and all starts at night !

Sei un'apripista allora, ti auguro davvero un bel viaggio! dove vai poi in India? Io volo con kuwait fino a mumbai e da lì Indian air fino a mangalor, da cui ci sono autobus per kundapur. Ho concluso che è la cosa migliore per un primo approccio a impatto delimiato
