Amazing plan mate! and yeah you might require over a year of planning. Its border line crazy too, and i like that. Anyhoo, my 2 cents being your Karnataka leg MUST include Hampi and Mysore.

Especially since your goal is to meet different type of people and experience different cultures. (unless you've already visited these places ofcourse)

Do keep updating this thread on how the plans are coming along

What a plan ! All the best.

I hope you have given thought to the time of the year and the locations you visiting. 180 days and the last few months covering the north and specially the leh - manali route.
I might be wrong but what I got is you would be planning to do the Manali - Leh route sometime April end- mid May. Please check on the road condition if they are open as per your schedule.

that is what India Mike is here for. The plan is an outline. The real journey would unfold according to the situation then.

I hope you keep on posting your diary as you travel, and we would be able to read and be a part of your journey.

What is your budget for the trip?
Which bike have you chosen? (I hope I did not miss on this)

It would be a pleasure to meet you when you pass Pune.

the bike has not been finalised. I wish to take the Bullet, as it is comfortable. But I do not own one. Currently I am preparing for the civil services exams, due this November. There is a window after the exams, when I am going for this journey. lets see what happens. There are people genuinely interested in coming with me, as time comes, things will unfold. Thats all I can say for now.
PS: In Pune, there is a guy named Pundlik wagh, who inspired me to dream of this endeavour, you can contact him.

Basically, I did my MBBS from Pune, and the city is close to my heart. As far as the budget is concerned, it will be approximately 2 lacs. I do not plan to stay in hotels/ lodges/ guest houses/ with friends.
Thinking about the yatra takes me to a different world. Since this is india, I can leave the rest to destiny, and people on the way and start with few basic things.

I dont want to be offtopic and dilute the whole flow of the thread.
Glad to hear you have someone in pune too. Love the idea of halting at friends and acquaintances.

All the best ! ! !
