Another Rajasthan plan. comments and suggestions needed pls
Greetings IM'ers
My fiance and I are travelling to india for the first time (for our honeymoon) and after 5 days relaxing in Goa (Dec 29 - Jan 3) , we are planning to fly to Udaipur and trek through Rajasthan and finally fly out of dheli on Jan 23. Sp around 3 weeks in Rajasthan.
I have attached a thumbnail image with the proposed route starting in Udaipur. All travel between main centers (Yellow push pins) will be by train where possible. My partner and I are 27 and 30yrs respectively so we are fit and enjoy trekking, bushwalking, seeing amazing architecture and cultural festivals etc... Our budget is mid range. We aren't backpackers and would prefer hotels to hostels, but will take what we can get in a pinch
I would really apreciate some input and comments on locations you feel are must see stops or deviations we could easily take from the proposed route. The only stops I have really thought of thus far are marked asd blue push pins on the map.
I haven't indicated time stayed in each location as I would like input on what to see and do first.
Also, we are really only stopping at Jaisalmer to do a 3 day camel trek. Given the time of the year, would you suggest going somewhere a little quieter for this?
Suggestions.. tips.. iconic must see items.. hidden gems.. please .. all will be gladly accepted.

I tried enlarging your thumb nail but it was just taking too long so can't comment on your itinerary because the thumbnail is impossible to decipher. However, if you are arriving in Jaisalmer after Jan 4 then it will be quiet because all Indian tourists would have departed by then. Most foreign tourists are heading to Goa at that stage or Hampi, so a good time here, not so crowded at that point.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
Okay, sorry I thought the image was of a reasonable size.
The order of places I want to visit is......
Goa for 5 days, (Dec 29 - Jan 3)
Fly to Udaipur.. Explore for 4 days, particularly Ranakpur temple and kumbhalgargh fort.
Train to Jodhpur. 3 days exploring
Train to Jaisalmer. Camel trek and/or explore 3 days
Train to Pushkar. Explore 4 days (i hear this is very beautifull).
Pushkar/Ajmer to Jaipur by train. Explore 3 days
Jaipur to Agra by train. Stay for 2 days to see the Taj and others.
Agra to Dhelhi by train.
Fly home on the 23rd Jan
I hope this makes things clearer.
I am going to use my LP guide to find nice attractions at the centers I have listed, but I wanted to know if there are some places along the way that people would recommend not to miss.
Thanx,
Antisense ^_^

I understand (though I dont have on the ground info yet, will be there next month) that you can trek from Kumbalgarh to Ranakpur- that could be really interesting if you can go through the wildlife refuge.
It seems like if you want to walk or hike you might be better off going to some of the smaller places rather than large cities.

Thanks Jenk, that sounds like a nice trek
Yeah, thats the main reason I made this post. I know whats on offer in the main centers by looking in LP. I am really more interested in the places between places... Things or places that left a great impression on others that I would otherwise miss.

I have been told on the Jaipur - Agra Road, closer to Jaipur is an excellent place for staying called Basi. The hotel is fantastic, the village lovely from what they say. Many people have recommended this stop.
