Amritsar, Dharamsala, Mandi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Delhi during 20 days?
Amritsar, Dharamsala, Mandi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Delhi during 20 days?
My dear experienced "IndiaMikers" can you help me find answer on this question?
Actually i have 2main questions:
1st - wether its possible see all these 7 places (Amritsar, Dharamsala, Mandi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Delhi) during just 20 days (its without time in trains/buses from 1place to another)..
2nd - how many days would u advice to spend in each? (something like around 3 days in every place or 1 in Amritsar while 5 in Dharamsala/other town...)
Thanks! (and sorry if i ask same question as 1000 people before me asked)

It should be possible to see the 7 places in 20 days if you do not include the travelling time (which you are not including)
I would suggest travelling by bus inside Himachal.
http://hrtc.gov.in/route.asp is the link for HRTC buses.
Amritsar is good for a day and half. You have the afternoon bus for Dharamshala. Dharamshala / Mcleodganj is good for 3-4 days. Check Triund for a trek. Mandi is good for a couple of days. Haridwar/Rishikesh 3-4 days.
In between you could check Palampur or Jogindernagar for a day.
You are not considering Manali?

Hallo Lana
Ok you are actually covering two strech
one is Delhi Haridwar Rishikesh and second Dharamshala Mandi and Shimla...
so according to me Delhi Haridwar and Rishikesh will take not more than 3 to 4 days including traveling and all.....
Secondly while going to Dharamshala you can go through Amritsar and u also cross Mandi on the way so no problem in that..shimla is little apart from all...so i think 15 days are more then enough for these three north indian destinations..even i am also planing to go to Dharamshala .....let me know your exact dates if u need a tavelparter...

hmmm i thought that 3-4 days aren't enough for Rishikesh
i was in Rishikesh for 1,5days and seems didnt see anything..although it's probably because i was all in love n didnt notice anything except the object of love
Seems this year Diwali gonna be right during my trip! I hope people celebrate it everywhere there

Sumant, whenever I pass through your posts, it becomes more and more obvious that you need a dating site desperately

You should be able to easily visit these places in 20 days.
I would suggest 5-6 days in Haridwar/Rishikesh (+1 day for travelling to/from)
Amritsar(2) + Dharamshala(3) + Mandi(2) + Shimla(4) + 3 days for travelling between these.
About 20 days including travel time. You can spend more time in Rishikesh/Dharamshala/Shimla if you have excess

I'd skip Jogindernagar & Palampur if I was you. Check out Rewalsar Lake 1 hour from Mandi. you could go Delhi-Rishikesh 6nts-Shimla 2-3nts- Rewalsar Lake/Mandi 3nts-D'sala/Mcleod 5nts-Amritsar 2nts-Delhi or similar.

Thanks to Bond and Kullukidhmmm Rewalsar Lake, seems i saw picture of 1lake from that region which was full of fish..and looked so beautiful
I'd like start from Delhi then take train to Amritsar, then go to Himachal (as i understand only buses are possible there between places i want visit)...from Himachal to Uttaranchal BUT what train is better to choose from Shimla to Kalka? ( i'm searching for better time to enjoy picturesque landscapes from train...seems most of trains departure in the evening)
There is a 10:30am train from Shimla to Kalka

There is also PadmaSambhava's caves above Rewalsar which are definitely worth a visit if you have an interest in Buddhism, He did His Penance here before heading to Tibet to spread Buddhism.IMHO the Shimla train journey is much better than the Kangra one.
You can do the circuit either way round.

:O No, i plan Shimla-Kalka-Ambala-Haridwar
(hardly i'll survive in a bus from Shimla to Haridwar...i'll better take 10trains hehe) Similar Threads
