Amritsar - Bikaner - Jaisalmer

Hi you all,

I wouldn't mind getting some information on how ( in the world ) can I get from Amritsar via Bikaner to Jaisalmer ?? Has anybody done this before? Where can I take a train and where do I have to take a bus or is all of that way to much trouble so that I should take a taxi?? Well I guess a taxi would be very expensive because of the long distances.
So if anybody can help me out it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you
Jochen

friend there is no any direct train from amritsar to bikaner and bikaner to jaisalmer.better u take bus from antitsar to sri ganganagar to bikaner.road to bikaner is very nice.specially from ganganagar to bikaner.well from bikaner to jaisalmer is just 330 km so u can do it in only 6 to 8 hours by bus.well about the taxi its only suite u if u r tourist.its not for traveller.as a traveller u have plenty of time but as tourist u must need fast way to get destination u can't waste time at bus stand or railway station.mostly trains in india are not on time.only some trains like rajdhani.shtabdi are mostly on time.so with taxi u r independent wherever u want u can stop and if u could find nice view u can click.so from amritsar to bikaner is 580 km by road.so have a nice time.happy travelling

Hi,
The best way to travel from Amritsar to Bikaner is private taxi.
There is no train between those towns. Travel by bus is hard with so many hours and you have to change it somewhere, there is no direct bus also.
Wishe you all the vbest.

There is a train !!. I have done the trip in the other direction. Bus from Jaisalmer to Bikaner and then there is a train that leaves in the midle of the night to Jalandhar.Whitch is not far from Amritsar.local trains connect (whitch run frequantly)to amritsar. So it must be possible to do it the other way .Hope this helps

Below is info I give earlier about getting from Amrisar to Jodhpur, the train calls at Bikaner about 5 hours before Jodhpur.

Quote:
Makhu is 60 Kms. south of Amritsar (connected by highway 15, so there should be plenty of buses).

Train 9112 departs Makhu daily at 15:11 and gets to Jodhpur at 05:40.

2-tier air con = Rs 1211
Sleeper Class (not air con) = Rs 286

Going the other way: -

Train 9111 departs Jodhpur daily at 20:35, and gets to Makhu at 11:00 the following morning.
