Ahmedabad, Gir and Kerala
My family, 4 & 7 y/o and my husband and I are going to India in December to visit family first in Ahmedabad, hopefully take a trip down to Sasangir while we are in that area, and then schlep down to Bangalore and onto Kerala at the end of the trip. All total about 3 weeks we have to do this.
My question is how to book these flights. Do I go round trip to Ahmedabad from Newark, NJ USA and then internally go from Ahmedabad to Bangalore to Cochin and back or can a get a decent deal going into Ahmedabad and back home from Cochin? Should I go by train from Bangalore to Cochin? Is there a sleeper train? My kids would love that. I got the books and am talking to family but some other opinions/ideas never hurt. Family in Bangalore is arranging the events in Kerala for us. Trying to figure out prices and mulitplying by 4 means the trip is growing more costly by the moment. We would be flying from either Newark NJ or JFK in New York really for the start of our trip. Val |

If you fly Air India, they fly from Newark and JFK you would probably have a stop over in Mumbai on your way to Ahmedabad. You could just take a train from there to Bangalore and Kerala and then back to the states from Mumbai.
Your probably going to pay at least $6000 u.s. for 4 people at that time (High season). ![]() Here's a place in Edison, N.J. that I bought a ticket a few years ago. www.highflytravel.com Ph: 732-283-9500 They might help you get a cheap ticket. If not check the Sunday New York Times Travel section for cheap fares. or..... www.kayak.com yahoo.com travel section aol.com travel section |

Sasangir ...
Hi
Just in case you are visiting Sasan Gir ... I went to Sasangir about 2/3 years back and had a real problem at the "Jungle Lodge", the guy running the place qouted peak season rates when a lower rate applied at the time. I ended up paying the same rate as the much better "Taj" place which is nearby. The food was'nt very good either ![]() |
