Agra to Jaipur w/ Fatehpur sikri - train or car

Can anyone make a suggestion as to how best to cover these three spots?

Is it better to make a day trip out of Agra by car to FS and then back for a train to Jaipur, or can I just as easily hire a car to go from Agra to Jaipur with this stop on the way?

Ideally I'd rather not spend an overnight in the process. I am interested in the difference in cost, but would probably be willing to pay for the latter if it offers a good advantage in terms of convenience.

Thanks!

I would go for a car...because fatehpur Sikri is not a day's worth...2-3 hours to the maximum..

best way to see fatehpur sikri and jaipur is to take a car. 3 hours in fatehpur sikri is good enough

Recommend car company from Agra?

As always, thanks all for the quick and detailed responses. Can anyone recommend a good taxi or tour company to hire a car and driver from for this trip?

It sounds like it would be a 1 day trip, leaving Agra in the morning, stopping at Fatephur Sikri, and ending in Jaipur same night. Also any guess at total cost?

Another alternative I guess is I could hire the car in Delhi as we're only planning one night in Agra.

Thanks again!

if you are coming back to delhi after jaipur and if your budget allows you then get a car from delhi. on the way you can also see sikandra. it all depends on your budget.
otherwise you can take the shatabadi from delhi to agra and then take a car from agra to delhi.
let me know what you decide then i can recommend a transporter accordingly

Thanks, Jessika. We're not headed back to Delhi after Jaipur. Do you have a suggestion for a company to hire a driver for a one-way trip from Agra to Jaipur?

Agra to Varanasi

Indizen, I will be taking the Marudhar Express in the opposite direction next year( Agra to Varanasi). Does it have a 1st class sleeper or just 2nd class sleeper? What is the difference between those two? How many people per compartment?
If one gets a 1st class AC ticket on an overnight train, does the seat convert into a bed?
Thank you

Leaving from Agra in the morning, stop in Fatehpur Sikri for a few hours, and on to Jaipur is very well doable in 1 day. Just know that there's no such thing as a one way trip, price-wise I mean, you'll always have to pay for the return of the driver.

Enjoy!

Why do you strongly discourage the car trip?
