Agra to Amristar

Hello good people of the IM forum I asked a question a few days ago and did not get a responce so Il try this one, How long would a person need starting at Delhi visit the Taj then up to the Golden Temple and then get themselves over to Mumbai( were we want to travel down the coast line to Kerala),and what would be the best way to do the journey, again Thank you in advance Steve.

Instead of going to Agra, go to Amritsar first. As Amritsar is North of Delhi while all the other places are south of Delhi. So first go to Amritsar. Then to Agra >> Mumbai and finally Kerala.

Thanks for the Response it all comes down to Flights and cost as we would be leaving the UK and flying direct to India, but ideally that would be what we would be looking for uk to Amristar but on doing a little searching it looks very exspensive.

There isn't a direct flight to Amritsar. It would be via Delhi only. You can come down to Delhi, take a Shatabdi to Amritsar. Go to Agra. Come back to Delhi if you want to fly to Mumbai or elso take a train from Agra to Mumbai (20 Hours).

Having done the trains I have to say we don't mind that thanks to Steve off this sight, he helped us out last time with train times and places and we loved it,were wanting to know how much time should we give over to this part of the trip the Amritsar/Agra leg if for example if we landed in Delhi which way would be best way to go first we don't have the luxury of time and would love to do the trip down to Kerala over a few days stopping in Karnataka on the way.

You could do a up down by Shatabdi express. Stay for the night in Delhi and take the Bhopal Shatbdi the next morning to Agra.
2029 SWARNA SHTBDI NEW DELHI 07:20 AMRITSAR JN 13:25
2030 +SWARNA SHTBDI AMRITSAR JN 17:00 NEW DELHI 23:00

or
Take the shatabdti to Amritsar
2029 SWARNA SHTBDI NEW DELHI 07:20 AMRITSAR JN 13:25
take the overnight train to Bharatpur
2904 GOLDN TEMPLE ML AMRITSAR JN 21:35 BHARATPUR JN 10:43
Bharatpur is only 25 KM from Fatehpur Sikri. If you are visiting in winter you can also watch the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary famous for the Siberian cranes. There onwards you can go to Taj and other monumants. Take Night stay in Agra.
Next day catch the August Kranti Rajdhani from Mathura (about 46 KM from Agra, 1 hour)

This is all good were having our holidays from work confirmed this week but it will be Feb/March 09 ,again thanks for the help we learnt from our last trip when we wasted lots of time by not planning our trip when it comes to trains and places to stay
