advice needed...

hi there,

found this forum yesterday - what a great source of information!

so here is my situation, and any advice would be much appreciated.

i'm arriving in delhi on 20th sept, and on the 22nd fly to Srinagar.

from there i hope to get to kargil and lamayuru by bus, then onto to Leh. spend a few days in leh, then *hopefully* on to Manali by bus or shared jeep. I intend to leave leh on the 28th september, and have concerns about the road being shut off then.

i realise that is is impossible to say exactly when it will close, but on average, what are the chances of buses still running in the last days of september?

Leche not sure about the buses, but the Manali-Leh route is normally kept open by the BRO till 15th of October some time even later. However I have heard the government buses stop playing on this much earlier, however taxis and privet buses still play.

so private buses, although a little more expensive i'm guessing, will get me there.

do they still do an overnight stop at this time of year, or have all the tents/camps shut down for winter?
