A tour of Rajashtan - need advice!
Hi,
I am new to the forum, and what a great forum this is. I will be travelling in Rajashtan plus Delhi and Agra for roughly 13 days next month. I need your advice/suggestions for my itinerary. There will be two of us travelling, and we're planning on hiring a car & driver.
Arrive a couple of days prior to Day 1 in Delhi
Day 1 Agra
Day 2 Jaipur
Day 3 Jaipur
Day 4 Bikaner - we're only planning to rest & sleep here
Day 5 Jaisalmer
Day 6 Jaisalmer
Day 7 Jodhpur
Day 8 Jodhpur
Day 9 Udaipur
Day 10 Udaipur
Day 11 Pushkar
Day 12 Drive back to Delhi to catch a night train
Do you think this is too rush? Not sure how long the drive will be from Udaipur to Pushkar and from Pushkar to Delhi? Do you have any suggestions/changes that I should consider? Thanks a million for your help!!!

Looks doable. Note that getting to and from Pushkar is not all that easy and by public transport it usually involves changing at Ajmer (although Pushkar has a bus station), and Pushkar might merit a little more than just a day.

Doable isn't enjoyable. It seems much too mad of a pace. What feel for a place will you get with this mad pace? The joy of Pushkar is laying back a bit. I would make judgements and cut it down by at least half. Its not like the other places won't be there on a later trip..
It is pushing it a bit,,,,,,,,,,,
Why not do it the other way round ie last stop in Agra instead of the first, that way you're only 4hrs or so (and more reliably ) away from Delhi & catching your train,
Go Bikaner via shekawati, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar, Jaipur,Agra.
Your time restraints are restrictive but leaving at 9'ish in the morning will get you to your destinations by 3/4pm in the afternoon which gives you chance to get your bearings on your part days before your full days at each destination.
I would though as alreadys been said try & find an extra day for Pushkar,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi Charley,
This is quite easy to do by car. We did the same route in in the same time and didn't feel rushed at all. Just make sure that your Agra visit doesn't fall on a Friday as the Taj Mahal is closed to visitors on Fridays.

I had a very similar itinerary when I was in India and I hated it. If you don't give yourself enough time to really enjoy each place then they all start looking the same. I would remove at least two stops on your list. Give yourself some time to relax and take in the local daily lives. And most importantly, stay in Pushkar for at least an extra day, this was my favorite stop on our trip and it allows you some time to breath during a chaotic itinerary.
