8 week India trip... where to start

Hi everyone,

me and a friend are going to India for 8 weeks from 23rd July - 18th September. We fly into Delhi and out of Mumbai. We are looking at routes now and getting really confused.

Let me know what you think of the list below - if it is achievable etc. We want to see so much - but spend time especially trekking in mountains, national park, and beaches.

This is all very rough and mainly based around train destinations:

Dehli
Amritsa
Rampur
Dehra Dun
Haridiwar

Bikaner
Jalsalmer
Jodhpur
Jaipur

Agra Region

Varanasi
Gorakhpur

Aurangabad
Mumbai
Hyderabad region

Finishing off in and around Goa for 10 days (meeting friends)

Thumbs up

8 weeks... I am jealous

You've got quite a few interesting places, but I would recommend adding some hilly areas in Himachal, Uttrakhand or Ladakh...

End of July and August would be hot in most of these places you have listed..

Some places that I would recommend...

Chakrata, Chaukori, Munsiyari, Chopta etc in Utrakhand
Dharamshala/Mcleodganj, Manali, Spiti, Kinnaur etc in Himachal
Leh and areas around it in Ladakh...

Search around here and you'll find plenty of info... Hope you enjoy your trip.!!

Best of luck

It looks fine.

I think you should skip Hyderabad and use that time to visit Hampi and Kerala.
