6 weeks Rajastan/MP/UP? Hello fellow travellers, We are visiting India for the first time and I suppose we are lucky to have 6 weeks for that. We decided to restrict ourselves to northern India. We actually prefer travelling off the beaten track but after reading too many interesting travelogues, we don't want to miss the highlights either! This is our (preliminary) itinerary: (Arrival on november 11th / (low) budget) Delhi(2 nights) train Jaipur (2 nights) car/driver Pushkar(1 night) car/driver Nawalgarh or Fatehpur(1 night) bus Bikaner (1 night)Exact dates/info about Kolyata Festival is more than welcome!! bus Jaisalmer (3 nights)incl 1,5 day camelsafari train Jodhpur (2 nights) bus Ranakpur (3 nights) incl Jain temples and Kumbalgarh Fort bus Udaipur (3 nights) incl daytrip to Mt Abu? bus Bundi (4 nights)incl visiting Chittaugarh Fort on the way train Sawai Madhopur (1 night) visit Rantambore NP morning drive Rantambore NP? depending on train scedule train Bharatpur (2 nights) Keoladeo NP bus Fatehpur Sikri (1 night) bus Agra (1 night)Taj and Red Fort train Gwallior (2 or 3 nights)depending on Tansen Musical Festival which may be held in that period? Unfortunately we dont know the exact dates of that festival. If ANYONE can give us more info about it, we would be more than delighted!!! train Orchha (2 nights) bus/cab? Khajurahu (2 nights) bus/cab? Bandavgarh NP (3 nights) bus/cab? Varanasi (2 nights)incl Sarnath? train Lucknow (1 night) train Delhi (2 nights) If we still have time we want to visit the Corbett NP as well before we return to Delhi. We would really appreciate itinerary advise; whether it is realistic, how far ahead we need to book our traintickets, if we missed must do's on our route, etc etc.. Especially information about festivals held in that period (from novemer 11 until december 20) would be nice. thanx in advance!

I like to add we are certainly willing to alter our itinerary for music festivals and fairs. This however excludes going further south, e.g. Pune which is held 10-12 december, as we are primarily interested in Rajasthan, Madhya and Uttar Pradesh.. We have to draw the line somewhere, even with 6 weeks at our disposal..

Can someone explain why Bundi is so fantastic and should we really spend 4 whole days there?

NO place is worth 4 days - unless u want to relax. site seeing cannot be more than 2 days. Even London is max 4 days

| sksl61, you are (again) replying to a thread which is more than three years old!

@SKSL61. Although I do not agree with your statement in general, I would like to add that the two nights we stayed in Bundi were more than enough. The guided tour in the palace by a retired military officer was nice, and the walk up to the fort on the hill was exciting (with the horde of monkeys chasing us away when twilight fell). Furthermore, there were very few tourists, which gives you a chance to see the 'real' Rajastan.
