Hi firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my request.
My husband & I are currently staying in Arpora, Goa until 6th Jan 18, we have a flight booked out of Cochin 6th Feb 18 to continue our backpacking trip, although we can pay a small fee to re-schedule if we need more time in Southern India.
During the month we would like to visit the areas above and any where else we can fit in.
We are looking to go to Hampi first but i'm really not sure about the mode of transport to get there; the overnight bus i. e Paulo Travels or train. All i'm reading is horror stories about the bus service + it appears to have gone up in price quite considerable, has anyone done this journey? & with the train we thought we would stay in Panjim overnight (we have been to see the sites already) & get to the train early as it leaves just after 7am but we didn't realise that Vaso De Gama station is quite far from Panjim. We could move further down the coast for an overnight stay if the train passes closer to the area so any ideas would be appreciated.
After Hampi we would like to go to Palolem beach for a week; any ideas on mode of travel ?
Any recommendations on houseboats in Alleppy not expensive as we are backpacking?
Any recommendations on the wildlife sanctuary's?
Any recommendations on what not to miss/where to stay etc...
Kind regards x

Head south to Madgaon instead of Panjim. The 7am train from Vasco reaches Madgaon at 7:45am. You can stay at Colva or Betalbatim or any of the beaches nearby.

You should return by the same route to Madgaon. Palolem is about an hour's drive south from Madgaon.

Have a look at this alternative.
Instead of returning to the coast after Hampi you can take a train from there to Mysore.
From here it is not far to Ooty, another hill station.
Proceed from Coimbatore, the nearest rail head, to Kerala

Hi Vonkla
Thank you very much for your reply & advice. We have previously been to Mysore but Ooty is certainly somewhere we would like to visit so we will try and incorporate it in our trip.
Thank you for taking the time to reply x

Hi Aarosh
Thank you for replying.
Palolem is a must as my husband wants to go back there also after all the walking around Hampi we will need a little r&r.
We have booked to fly out from Cochin on 6th Feb.
Many thanks x

Why not consider a beach closer to Cochin? Varkala, Kovalam near Trivandrum could be options.

You are traveling from Goa to Karnataka then back to Goa and then back to Kerala.

Hi Aarosh
Thank you for your advice. We will maybe have a rethink of our plans although we have been to Varkala & Kovalam on previous trips.
Many thanks x
