3 Month Trip - March to May 2008

Hi
I just joined this forum and its been great looking around and reading other posts and threads.

We are planning to go on a 3 month trip around India between jobs.
unfortunately it falls just after the good season in most places in india
So we are trying to figure an itinerary which makes the best of it.

We have not travelled india apart from main cities really and plaes like agra etc.
and havent travelled the north at all.
so all advice and suggestions are most welcome!

as of now we thought of starting with 2 weeks of relaxing in Goa. then heading north and doing gangotri, Kashmir? etc and also northeast?

I think we would like to start or end in Delhi and Calutta.

we are looking at mostly backpacking it all. and trains and very low end hotels or hostels.

any suggestions?

good idea.you can start it from goa.then come to gir forest or little ran of kachh. in gujrat. then go to rajasthan visit mt. abu, udaypur jodhpur bikaner jaisalmir jaipur then go to delhi,visit agra, go to hardwar then visit valley of flowers then came back to delhi visit chandigarh simla, manaly ladakh kashmis. then by train you come to kolkata. visit sundarban then go to assam visit kaziranga then go to bhalukpong tawang then go to puri,konark chilka, then visit bastar and go back to mumbai.by the way you did not tell the time you will start so i dont know all that plan will do well or not. so inform the date .all the best

You'll realize the original post is from June 07, the poster doesn't seem to have been back since, and had wanted to start in March 08.

yes was talking about March 2008.
it now turns out that i will be doing the 1 to 3 month trip only around september....
so the whole plan has changed
another new thing came into the scene...a bike... do will be looking to do a biking trip starting from mumbai....
