As to the race itself. If a person has an interest in boats, then I think that the snake boats are something to be seen: they really are amazing. Would one want to sit through a whole day of races? Well, I wouldn't do it again. I enjoyed watching the preparation and practice, the day before, from a lakeside hotel (Keralayam) more than the races themselves. It's good to see a race or two, but not all day.
Excellent point. Im no boat race aficionado. An hour-ish tops i prob all I could stand (unless I was able to bet on the races).

Mind you, I guess you could still come and go, and do that hour or so.

My mistake was that a friend organised a VIP ticket for me at the finishing-line stand which is on an island.

Could be pretty crowded, though. Maybe the alternative would have been not seeing much at all.
