| 2 months in India.. Flying in to the North, Flying out from the South. Hi everybody.. this is my first post. I plan to leave the U.K early this september and spend 2 months in India before flying on to australia.. so it seems logical to fly into the north and out of the south. I would like to do a lot of the travelling overland as opposed to flying. I am allowing myself a budget of £15 per day, and I shall be travelling alone. I am after a rough overland route rather than a detailed day by day itinerary as I am very flexible. Please could you suggest the airports to fly in to and leave from, and an overland route between the two taking in the best bits of India. Regards, Dave. |

| I'd certainly agree with flying into Delhi and out of Chennai. npjai's list is a pretty good one although unfortunately the first few places have a high hassle factor - although they are more or less must see places too. I agree with his idea of going north first to settle in a bit before facing UP. It may help to think about what you want to see and do. India is so diverse geographically and culturally that it's fairly easy to enjoy a wide range. Two months isn't long to get all over - you'll do a lot of travelling. We have just come back from a trip round some of central India plus a bit of Assam. We spent two months on that and have previously spent two months in Kerala / Tamil Nadu. Having said all that, if you tried to see some of Delhi, a bit of the mountains (Himachal Pradesh or Uttaranchal), some of Rajasthan, some of the plains cities, a beach or two, a national park with or without tigers, some of the ancient civilisations (maybe Hampi), a bit of Kerala for it's greenness and some temple towns in Tamil Nadu (I wouldn't miss Madurai personally) you should have had a good time and seen some great places. |
