2 days stay in Alleppy/Kumarakom in Mar 10..

I am planning to visit Kerala for 7 days in mid of Mar 10.

I would be stayin for 4 days at CLub Mahindra at Munnar. Remaining 2 days i want to stay at Alleppy Or Kumarakom. Want to stay in Decent budget hotel, facing the backwaters. Have few questions..

Q1- What is better..Alleppy OR Kumarakom ?
Q2- Need your suggestions for the hotel in Alleppy/Kumarakom.
Q3- How will be the climate in Mid March in Alleppy/Kumarakom AND Munnar
Q4- What all activities can be done at Alleppy/Kumarakom
Q5- Good restaurants in Munnar
