18 days south india

Well, here i am giving you trouble... I'll be in Mumbai on october 6 and i'll be leaving on 25. I want to visit kerala but if it's possible i´d like to know sthing of Karnataka or Tamil Nadu. ANy suggestions? I can take 2 domestic flights, and maybe a car with driver for some days... i know i have very few days... My first ideas are:
-flight to Madras, car with driver until madurai (stopping in Pondicherry, Trichy...) and train to Kerala, going up until Cochin, flight to Mumbai. (too exhausting?)
-flight to Bangalore, i'd like to visit hampi and mysore (too much?) and down to kerala...i don´t know how....but i´d love to!
Well, thank you in advance...and sorry for my English, i know it isn´t too good ...
I´d like to visit as much as possible but you know, not running!
Thank you again!

Kerala seems to be decided.

I would suggest choose between Tamilnadu and Karnataka, doing all three (including Kerala) in 18 days will be a bit much.

You can fly into Kerala and fly out of Tamilnadu or Karnataka back to Mumbai. The rest, you could take trains or hire a car
(trains are more comfortable, a drive is more interesting)

I personally would prefer Karnataka for Hampi/Srirangapatnam/Mysore/Coorg, but thats just my preference.

Why don't you browse the Tamilnadu and Karnataka fora here on indiamike and decide?

I second Captain's preference for Karnataka over Tamilnadu for a different reason - most of Tamilnadu may experience wet spells in October.

thamk you very much for all your answers!!After studyng quite a lot, we´ve realised that tamil nadu is easier than karnatake, having so few days... My actual idea is: arriving in Chennai at 4:00 am and taxi to Mamallapuram (2 nights), night train Madras-Kumbakonam (better Thanjore?)and 3 nights to visit, trichy 1 night, Madurai 2 nights, night train to Killom and backwaters to Allepey (2 nights), bus/car to Periyar (2 nights) and return to Cochin (2 nights), fly to Mumbai 1 night and go home. What do you think?
Thank you very much in advance...and sorry for my poor English! I hope it won´t become a problem once there
