15-20 Day Karnataka Road Trip

Hey Travellers,
I was thinking of a 15 day road-trip within Karnataka covering all the important places. Not more than 150-200 Kms per day.

Needed suggestions, on what could be a good path. I am open to travel by both car/railways. I am based out of Bangalore.

Bangalore - Mysore/somnathpura/srirangapatna - Coorg - Mangalore - Gokarna - Dandeli - Chikmaglur - Belur/Halibed - Chitradurga - Hampi/pattadakal - Bijapur - Gulbarga - Bidar

well that should take 20 days i guess ,maybe more

So many different places in 12 days?

Coorg is a hill.
Mangalore-Gokarna are beaches.
Hampi is a rocky plain.

You got to visit these places in different times. It is taxing to visit Hampi & the beaches in summer. Similar visiting Coorg in rains is subjecting yourself to leaches and indoors.. So I don't actually see the point in doing too many things at the same time...

Hi Everyone

I am planning a road trip to Kerala with my wife for about 15 days starting Dec 19. I would like to cover some lesser explored places and not go to the major cities through this trip ( I have seen most of the cities there already). There are a few places that I plan to cover (based on a preliminary search on google). These include :

Bangalore, Masinagudi, Madumalai, Kabini, Lakkidi,Calicut, Kochi (Bhoothathankettu, Vagamon, Allepey, Varkala,Trivandrum, Kovalam, Munnar (Eravikulam NP).

Could some one help me plan an itinerary covering these and also suggest if I should add/delete something from the list. I dont plan to stay at regular hotels to the extent possible. Would prefer Home stays/ other scenic options where possible. Also, I would like to know how safe is the whole route and the Home Stay options. Any other suggestions regarding the trip are most welcome.

Bangalore-Shrirangapatna-Hunsur-Nagarahole NP**-Madikeri**-Sulya-Kasaragod**[Plan 2 night Stay for Bekal Fort, Beautiful Beaches,Ananthapuram Temple,Maddur Ganapathy temple]-Valiyaparamba Backwaters**-Kannur**[Plan 2 night Stay for Beautiful beaches,Muthappar temple, Snake park, Pazhassi Dam]-Calicut-Guruvayur**[For Temple,Elephant Enclosure]Ernakulam /Cochin** [ Plan 1 night Stay for City exploration,Chotannikara Bhagavathi amman Temple]-Trivandrum** [Plan 2 night Stay - 1 Day for Exploring Kovalam / Cherai /Veli /Shangumugam beaches, Temple and 1 Day for Exploring Kanyakumari with a visit to Padmanabhapuram Palace and Thirparapu Falls enroute]-Munnar**[Plan 2 night Stay for exploring Munnar's Tourist spots].

Once done with Munnar, you may take Pollachi-Sathy-Kollegala-Kanagapura-Bangalore [Road is poor between Kollegala-Bangalore]

Or

Pollachi-Sathy-Ch Nagara-Nanjangudu-Mysore-Bangalore [Road is poor between Ch Nagara and Nanjangudu]

Or

Pollachi-Perundurai-Bhavani-Salem-Bangalore [ All thru excellent Roads]

I did not do as extensive a trip as you are planning on. I went Bangalore-Mysore-Hunsur-Nagarhole NP, Virazpet, Khulshan Nagar (sp?). Mine was more relaxed; like I spent 10 days at the jungle inn resort in nagerhole. I did not want to be a speedy demon like in previous trips. Though very different the relaxed pace did me good. I did go a bit stir crazy because I wanted to be on the move but then this is actually what the doctor ordered...

Good luck planning. I caution the pace.
