I'm going to be flying into Delhi and will have about 12 days to tour around before going to Goa for an event and am trying to fit as much as I can into those 12 days.

I would like to go to Agra, Varanasi, Udaipur and Amritsar. Is this possible without rushing around too much? I know most people tend to just cover the "Golden Triangle" area in this timeframe but I would really like to travel out to Varanasi and Amritsar for something a bit different as who knows if I will be able to come back to India!

Any suggestions of itineraries taking that into account would be much appreciated! I should maybe also mention that I am a female travelling solo

The places that you have opted for are in opposite directions. Mid January fog will create a havoc with flight and train schedules around Delhi and Amritsar. Varanasi could also be a problem.

Either take a flight from Varanasi to Goa or Amritsar to Goa.

I think you are trying to fit in too much in 12 days considering the fog factor. Skip one city so that you can concentrate on the other cities that you would visit.

One option is
Flight from Delhii to Varanasi
Train from Varanasi to Agra
Train from Agra to Udaipur
Fly fro Udaipur to Goa

You can substitute Amritsar for Varanasi.

Thank you both for your feedback - I suspected I would be trying to fit too much in. I would really like to visit both Amritsar and Varanasi but I guess I do need to pick one.

Do you have any suggestions for different itineraries that would fit in better with either Amritsar or Varanasi? I'm fairly open to anything - I just picked the cities mentioned above as they appealed and I figured it would allow me to experience a few different areas.

Thanks again

You could skip Udaipur.

Take a train from Delhi to Amritsar. Train from Amritsar to Agra. Train from Agra / Bharatpur to Varanasi / Mughal Sarai. Flight from Varanasi to Goa.

3 days in Delhi. 2 days in Amritsar. 2 days in Agra / Bharatpur. 3 days in Varanasi. With a couple of spare days for problems due to fog.
