1 month itinerary

hello
i'm planning on travelling to india for a month and was wondering if anyone has a good idea for an itinerary? i want a varied experience but don't want to rush around too much. i was thinking about volenteering for half of the time just to get to know some people...any advice? thanks!

Suggest reading some guidebooks (you can start with free outdated ones from the library, the general info doesn't change much), read around this site to your heart's content, and fill in the picture for yourself, so as to get the better advice, which is certainly available here.

ps A month ain't long. Wanting to divide it between holidaying and volunteering may be asking a little much. Ask yourself too what you could contribute in the latter field over just two weeks.

The serious outfits I know typically start from 2/3 months till much longer. It takes time to get you instructed and involved in a team, knowing whatever local language would be helpful, etc. There are certainly some opportunities to do short-term voluntary work, one might ask what it does other than to ease your conscience though.
