Updated Look-and-Feel
Hi all,
As some of you may have noticed, I've made some changes to the site look-and-feel. It started a few months ago with the new logo, and it's continuing now.
The following areas have been updated today:
I will add more details to the what's and the why's, but for now I'd like to let you soak it all in.
If you see any issues, please report it on this thread.
As some of you may have noticed, I've made some changes to the site look-and-feel. It started a few months ago with the new logo, and it's continuing now.
The following areas have been updated today:
- Header and Masthead: The logo was changes a little while ago, this completes the changes that were to originally be accompanied with the logo change.
- Images Section: The images section has been updated to a new look. This is a look that will eventually be propagated.
- Right panel removal: The right panel, which didn't really do much, has been removed to dedicate more space to the content.
- Search area on left: The search on the right allows you to search across all the content areas, and will replace the current search box at the top of the page once the new look has been rolled out to the full site.
I will add more details to the what's and the why's, but for now I'd like to let you soak it all in.
If you see any issues, please report it on this thread.
It's always darkest before it goes completely black.

The look is elegant, but the font isn't. The old font used in the thread titles and the posts was better. The current one looks too small on screen. Has the font and font size changed as well.

yes. it feels shorter than what i used to see earlier The font is different when replying or editing. It is the same to me the way it comes out once posted.
EDIT: The thread title font of course has changed. I don't know, I guess I'll get used to that.
I like those curly patterns at side of logo, btw. It's elegant.

"Like" option seems to be unavailable or may be I missed it?
Homepage looks very different on Internet Explorer, I guess it has not been desiged from IE perspective.

The font when reading looks exactly the same to me as it was, yes. I'm on IE8, btw. Yes, the homepage looks very different; I guess it was designed to
I mean I don't see anything there that would have to do with using IE. (PhotoFreak, maybe it would help to know what kind of screen you're on? I'm on a PC with one of these modern wide flatscreens myself, don't even know its dimensions; I adjust my browser screen to be narrower, since find that unworkable/unreadable in most cases. It's handy for full-screen gaming/video watching, and not much else.)
The like function seems to be currently still coming and going with just about every page reload, yes. I guess that's still unstable at present.

nadreg, I copied my comment and your question to me from the site notification thread.
No - the font I'm talking about being different is the one I am using right now as I type in the Reply to Thread box.
When it shows up as a post, it still looks like Verdana (?), but here it looks like something else.
Yes, the nav bar (below indiamike) is different as are the large thread titles, but what I was talking about was what I see as I type now.

PS Where is Quick Links?

Like shows, typeface point is same as yesterday (on Safari/Mac) The new header title size could be a tad smaller more like 14 ?
<cross-posted with NYC. I think those thread titles could be a tad subtler, indeed.>
Yes, as said, I see nothing at my end that would have to do with my using IE8.

The like function has been coming and going ever since you started working on this, earlier tonight. It's there the one moment, not the next. Now you see me, now you don't, kind of thing.Yes, as said, I see nothing at my end that would have to do with my using IE8.

I'm on holiday, so just visiting the site for a few minutes in a week...
We lost the quick links. Last time you did that, there was a protracted discussion which led to you restoring it. To save us all repeating ourselves, can you just put it back please?
See you next week

Ahh, ok... Don't like the black bar. Hardly noticed it, thought it was because I'm using an unfamiliar browser in an unfamiliar OS. It looks like one of those extra toolbars that software suppliers like to sneak in on us if we miss a tiny check box to say we don't want it. Similar Threads
