Urban maps and directions

Hello

I have been looking for some time for an equivalent of Mappy.com or Mapquest.com for Indian cities (especially Mumbai and Delhi). That would be both for going from one place to another and to locate specific places. Unfortunately, the Google system (Maps & Earth) are not very India-friendly on this side.

Driving directions not yet there so far. Also not all (or any) roads are named and marked. Try http://wikimapia.org with people entering some information that might be useful more that Google projects but not good enough as mapquest or anything

Ok, in the meantime I found http://www.mapmyindia.com but unfortunately this is a paying service (for the only useful zoom level at least). Still in search, but thanks for the hint!

Edit: Ok, there are a couple of things on Maporama, but with quite few options...

Although it isn't online, your best bet for maps of Mumbai is to get hold of an Eicher Map (think thats the name) which is sold in bookshops. It has road names and clear maps - best I've found. I know you can pick them up in Crosswords shops but more than likely, they will be available on the street somewhere too.
