I am trying to plan weekend trips from Bangalore and would like to know which towns are in range. Any advice would be appreciated. |

| Hello Johnny and welcome to indiamike.com Online maps are handy, but there's nothing like a good map in the hand to look through whenever you want. A perfect map for you would be the Nelles Southern India, it covers all India south of Mumbai, it has all road distances, hills, railway lines, places of interest, and is generally easy on the eye, not bad for $10. Another excellent buy would be the Eicher Bangalore City Map, this is FAR more than a city map, the info inside is far better than you'd find in any guidebook, absolutely recommended. (I've not seen the Bangalore map, my comments are based on the Delhi map) Familiarise yourself with the Southern Railways website, it will be useful. I'll leave road trips to others, but some possible overnight train trips include Tirupati, Hampi, Madurai, and Trichy. |

| Any recommended overnight trips from Bangalore? Thanks everyone for your useful feedback!! A coworker and I are traveling to Bangalore next month for two weeks. We are so excited! We will have evenings off, two full days off in the middle of the trip and two fulls days off at the end. We would like to spend the evenings enjoying some of Indias modern luxuries and spend our days off seeing some amazing sites and soaking up as much traditional culture as we can, luxury not necessary. Your advice is much appreciated! |

| Mapmart This seems to be a cool new site. http://www.mapmart.com/ They seem to have Satellite-topo maps for the entire world. You can pay online something like 25 US dollars and download the map of your choice. If someone actually does download, please inform us all at IndiaMike about the quality of the maps.
