Mumbai Map needed

Hi - Can someone point me to an online street map of Mumbai that shows exactly where Ballard Pier is, please?

Yes, that works alright, but I am trying to find out exactly where Ballard Pier is, where the old steam ships used to dock...

Sadly, I don't have broadband out here in the backwoods of Western Ireland, so I haven't been able to try that.

Ballard Pier is where you will find the docks like Princess, Indira, etc. Try searching at the Google website for "Mumbai maps online" and the results will show you a lot of different ones from here. There are a few good ones but none will show you Ballard Pier as such but only Ballard Estate which is the area around the docks. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Look on this page, then click on Colaba, I can't find the map to the north east of that one, could one of those piers be the one your looking for?

Thanks for all the comments. I finally found a railway map of 1931 at the very excellent IRFCA website here:

http://irfca.org/gallery/Heritage/history-scans/bombay_map_1931_rg.jpg.html?g2 _imageViewsIndex=1

It clearly shows Ballard Pier as a separate entity, north of Apollo Bunder.

Obviously things have changed these days, but I guess Ballard Pier must have been the southward promontory just to the north-east of the word 'Basin' in 'Custom Basin' on this map:

You are right, the protruding part near Customs Basin is what you are looking for.

That must be Google Earth, is it? Wow, pretty neat. Would you mind getting the next one half the map south as well, please, for the smaller-scale image i.e. the image showing less detail and a bigger area.

I'll look forward to that, John.

By the way, its interesting to compare this modern map:
http://mumbainet.com/cityinfo/images/sbombay.jpg

with this map of the City of Bombay, taken from the 1907-1909 Imperial Gazeteer of India:
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/maps/gazett..._V8_pg384c.jpg

In the older map, Ballard Pier has not been built yet, though an outline is given of where it is obviously planned to be.

Perhaps some Mumbai residents of today can notice other changes?

More maps from the Imperial Gazeteer of India are online here:

Changes? What a mild word. The place where i live [btwn Grant Road and Mumbai Central station] is marked as open scrubland or maybe a few rural houses were present.

Just see it today..... I 'm sure y'all already have....
