Looking for a Good India Road Map!
Traveller2003,
I was referring to the fact that the maps are limited to big cities. It will be a while before they get every city/town/village.

that will be really something to wait for! hope they do it soon.
Gosh; all kinds of stuff on the web that I never knew about: Thanks everyone!
A big plug from me for Eicher city maps!
The Chennai map really changed my life their, as it made me feel independent and self reliant; a huge improvement on anything I'd seen before.

Eicher has a India Road Atlas which is as detailed as the city maps. It's in a book format and quite handy if you are driving through the highways.

I know exactly the format you mean, the one that's common in the UK, published by the AA. I think that format may be a peculiarly British thing... My Canadian partner picked mine up off my passenger seat the day we met, and said "Oh my God you've got a 1:1 scale map of England!"

"was referring to the fact that the maps are limited to big cities. It will be a while before they get every city/town/village."
Maybe it's better to keep some places as "hidden gems"?
We just returned from HP, where we were taken to a teeny hamlet ("village" is way too grandiose) called Behla. The nearby hamlet is called Lala. I love the connection to Los Angeles--LaLa Land!
I could never the place on my own--too many dirt tracks leading to it. And that may be a good thing.
