Anyone have any info on maps for a "Garmin GPS Map 76Cx" (microSD card) Mapmyindia are not compatable with this Garmin unit which id designed for hand held use (marine, foot, air)

With much searching and emailing I have found maps for Garmin handhelds which require differnt maps to Garmin in car Gps. 404 towns and cities, points of interest plus all highways

everybody have to know about Nav4All the free mobile gps software in all languages, works in nearly every cellphone,
it use gprs or dataconnection to download actual map in real-time, from everywhere in the world, India too.
I have use it on many cellphones (even on a cellphone with only external bluetooth GPS devise) and i like it,
and now when nokia maps not good i start that nav4all instead,
i always have nav4all as the alternative extra gps-navigation-program, it use a very little memory..

Thanks... I just had a quick look at the Nav4All site.

Two things: one is that it is free, but until 1 January 2010, which is not long now.

Second: It needs to communicate with the Nav4All server to calculate routes. Mobile-based data communication here is slow and, I think, expensive.

If you use Nokia Maps, then do get the maps for India. The Nokia maps for Chennai are good, but outside the cities, they are poor. Maybe your Nav4All might fill the gap: do let us know!

Yea they say it's free until ... all time every year, i have use it for at least 5 years now, and when i first try it, i read it's free until a date 5 years ago, i always read it's free until next year, but no it have been free forever, i have download it for every new phone i by.
a friend test nav4all when he drive car arund all europe 2 months 5 years ago, and the connections was not very fast that time, he say it works very good all the time, he use it every day, very less data connection, it was very cheap, not many kb gprs-data he pay for, even when it never save any maps on the phone,
but if you choose go from here to point b, it pre-download all maps for that trip, and count the km and traveltime, you have alternate way-choises, even cycletrack, and it save the maps for that trip, but only temporary.
the voises you select and download when you install nav4all, it's not a big file. it use dataconnection only to suggest the next gas-station or what ever you lock for.
I'm gonna by a prepay Airtel simcard, with internetsurf, and then i don't pay anything extra for datatraffic.

if anyone has gps tracks of india they should probably upload to openstreetmap. unfortunately theres not much in at the moment for india, but the data can be downloaded for garmins pretty easily entirely for free from http://downloads.cloudmade.com/asia/india
