Am taking up an assignment in Hyderabad and want to drive down from Chandigarh. I have a wagon R and know the route upto Delhi. After that, please guide me

OK, lets have a look at this map,

From Delhi take NH2 to Agra,
At agra take NH3 to Gwalior,
At Gwalior take NH75 to Jhansi,
At Jhansi take NH26 for several hundred km till it joins NH7 at Lakhnadon.

Take NH7 due south to Hyderabad

I will reach Delhi at around 9AM and then move towards Agra so should be there by 12 noon and then ....

Any idea about the road conditions and places for halt between Lakhnadon and hyderabad

Major towns along the way from Agra are Gwalior, Jhansi, Sagar, Lakhnadon, Nagpur then Hyderabad.

Distances between Lakhnadon and Nagpur, and Nagpur and Hyderabad are long. Seems like Lakhnadon is not a big place either. So plan accordingly.

Sorry, don't know about the road condition.

I have heard that roads in MP are not all that good - and you may be better off driving only during the day time. Less risks involved. Unless you are on a big time constraint.

The most optimum route is

Delhi/Agra/Bhopal (via Gwalior/Jhansi)/Nagpur/Hyderabad

NH throughout. You can also take the Gwalior/Guna/Bhopal route as I did once, to visit a sanctuary.

Have done Hyd/Delhi a couple of times, it is safe enough on this route.

Have also done Hyderabad Delhi via Jabalpur. THe first route is better, specially for night halts and with family.


PS: If possible, take your time doing the trip. Lots to see en route. Agra, Jhansi, Gwalior, Sanchi, Bhopal, Kanha (not really en route but..)

The road to Sanchi was murder a few years ago, hope it has improved.
