Ancient Maps, Pics & Stuff -- Pritchett's Bookmarks

Today's site crash led me to do some web browsing in the hope of finding alternative archived stuff (no such luck). Plenty of other interesting hits though. (Including to some threads that might have shed more light on this year's switch which I managed to miss -- but they seem to be no longer accessible. Never to worry, no big deal. Would have interested me though.)

Anyways, one site that I stumbled across just now is http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/ . Can't really make out what this is about, backtracking to the source it speaks of "course web pages and files by department" (of Columbia University then).

It's not exactly user-friendly as some of these directory pages go, but what a wealth of info ancient & new on many things Indian! Ancient maps, pictures, poetry pages & more -- a lot of it ripped from the web apparently, including from this site (I found a pic of mine), but at least they had the decency to quote sources, I'm sure it's all well-meant.

Fantastic stuff. Backtracking through the URL some more may or may not reveal even more relevant material.

Enjoy! Mods, if the link had been posted before, feel free to delete this, but I couldnie find it.

[edit: definitive link: http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/00fwp/ , see below]

Hey! Thanks! Is that the missing overview page then? I couldn't get my head around it yet, was too busy being flabbergasted. Incredible isn't it.

Should we not contact this guy/girl/gang to make them honorary members for life or sth. Mind you much of what I've seen so far is a collection of other web material, but what a collection nonetheless.
