When you find yourself re-reading William Dalrymple's " The Age of Kali" in a Madeiran hotel room.

Or when you are packing for a holiday in Madeira and you put William Dalrymple's " The Age of Kali" in your case

Welcome back Alan.

When it's 5 am and your posting to this thread after a night of checking all of the indian newspapers online sections.

When you miss seeing 10 year old cricket matches on the tv.

when you say aacha, aacha, aacha and you get looked at like you just grew a second head.

When you check the bathroom in the house you just bought and start looking for a plumber to put in a tap so you can have water in the toilet. I decided it was easier to eMail a friend in Thailand to send me one of those sprayer things, same result but less messy!

Are any of our member’s cartoonist's?

Whenever I feel like not going into work, I look at this thread to cheer myself up, but I always think that a cartoonist could have great fun with some of the posts.

- Drive your car at night with the headlamps turned off.

- Start hanging strings of lemons and chillis everywhere

- Sleep down the local train station, on the floor

- You start hankering for a Bagpiper and Coke.

- When your 8 year old niece comes up to say 'hello', you shrug your shoulders and say 'No pen, no rupee.'

-You try and convince your mates how good a Khardi shirt looks.

-You start wearing that Kurta you had made in Delhi - outside your house & wonder what the odd looks are about.

- You start wondering why you haven't had a dose of dysentary for at least three weeks.

I love it, Steve!

Here are my contributions:

You know you miss India when...

*You look into having a cow trap installed at the end of your driveway.

*You're driving down a perfectly paved road at 70 m.p.h. and catch yourself thinking "There should be an unmarked speed bump right about here."

*You see some litter in the street and wonder why there isn't a cow/dog/pig eating it.

The smell of something burning outside makes you feel nostalgic. Sometimes I want to light up a plastic cup just to bring back the memories.
