When you sit and try to identify the different Indian scripts in that same instruction manual?

-- When you grab your girl friend's hand before crossing any street.
-- When, while talking to your friends, you grab their hand... and don't let go... for a very long time.
-- When you walk very ....... very ......... very slowly down the road.
-- When you walk on the side of the road regardless of how well kept the sidewalks are.
-- When you snarl at other drivers because they didn't honk before passing.
-- When you pull into the farther left lane, turn on your right turn blinker... and mean it.
-- When the local shopkeeper tells you prices aren't negotiable, you ask, "And the manager's discount?"

-- when you enter a nearly empty conference room or bus, and sit next to the only other person there.
-- when the wind blows up some dust, and you reach for your dupatta to cover your nose.
-- when you go for a follow up visit to the doctor and are surprised that you have to pay again!
-- when you explain your latest ailment, in detail, to the local pharmacy expecting him to tell you what to take...
-- worse, when you can't remember any of the American names for common medications! Paracetemol, anyone?

(When I was a poor college student, my Mom used to get really mad at me for bargaining at yard sales. :P India was obviously my destiny.)

Oh dear...my names Ali and I am an addict!

* when you have just spent the best part of an hour reading 409? posts and realise that you could have written them all! (apart from the blowing nose ones and peeing in the sink ~~ yukkk!)

* when you search for 'A Passage to India' just to see the trains and views. Knowing that there are better ones but dare not ask in the shop.

* When you go to your local Indian store just to smell the aroma. Of course I bought something there!!

* When you ask any local Indian you might meet if they can teach you some words. (mostly ask shop keepers, they dont mind, they think I am mad anyway)
