ah, you two, huh? my mom felt the need to point this out to me when i last went to india in february, reminding me of house repairs that need done. i said, 'but ma, i got free frequent flier miles, and india is cheap", yet i managed to go way over budget and had to take draws on my credit card towards the last part of my trip...

You mean you installed a squat toilet in one corner of your living room, shielded by a thin wall, threw out the carpets, keeping just one mat for sleeping, and got an LPG cooker for cooking and a sink for a bucket ?????

...And installed a hand pump in the garden?????????

you may be missing India when you require the freedom.Thats a lovely beach, lets stay a few weeks. To go from town to town ,enjoying the best it has to offer. That looks like an expensive place, lets go in . to be filled with a feeling off awe with some of the magnifisant structures. To sample all the differant foods, smell etc.(some off the smells ain't to good) the suprise whitch comes round the next corner, Oh and that rich and wonderfull religion.
,and of course the finance to enjoy it for an extended period of time.

Gosh & Aghast!

you may be missing India when you.......realise you're getting more mosquito bites in Ireland than in Tamil Nadu, and the cost of the repellent cream is five times as much!

Had to bump up this thread...I've been reading this for the umteenth time and each time I have a good laugh. I'm sure some of the new members will also enjoy.

Isn't Ikuru a cartoonist??

1. when you start eating rice 3X daily instead of eating any bread at all, and you just HAVE to eat papaya everyday or else you feel something is missing...

2. when you go into a new-agey store and your friends start to roll their eyes when you ask "do you know how much that would cost in India...." as they reach for an overpriced hippie-type purse with mirrors....

3. when your friends tell you "you're doing that head thing again...."

Missing India

... when they just tell me in a bookstore that the book I want is out of stock instead of going around the corner to their cousin or whatever to get it for me immediately - and by the way, where's the chai while I'm waiting?!??!
