Anna: Too bad that you have decided to log on as anonymous and hide your true identity. I bet it takes a lot of courage to be who you want to be than to let the people around you define it for you based on their preconceived notions. You have come this far, don't let a few people change that about you. Anyways, I do wish you luck and will be looking forward to your posts after your trip.

Hang around, join the club, ask questions pertaining to India and travel, ignore the doubters
Have you applied for your visa yet ? No amount of planning is going to prepare you for the culture-shock....
I've been to Asia before... Thailand and China and now to India.
Yes I have my tourist visa, still have to get vaccinations though and find decent hotels (once I'm sure of which parts of India I want to visit).... and train reservations, and restaurants, and galleries... so much to prepare when I think of it.

Check out weatherbase.com for historical data on the weather for cities you want to visit and pack accordingly. There are no special restrictions or requirements for vaccinations to travel to india; but the standard flu sots; hepC should help. Ask your PHP or Travel-specalized medical professional for further advice.

I actually thought IM member Charlene DD & the OP could be long lost siblings ... you know seperated at birth. IM has been known to reunite long lost friends & families - what could be better.

Me too - while I wanted to be sure that you were genuine before replying to you, from your replies it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that you aren't a troll.
Hopefully it hasn't put you off posting on the forums.

Anna, I believe the person who first mentioned 'trolling' has explained themselves and the discussion has moved on. You seem to be getting hung up on a moot issue. There are a lot of people on this site willing to help you, and I'm sure your experiences travelling in India, shared with IndiaMike, will be very helpful to others who come to the site in future.

Moderator's Note: This has been a wonderful thread, full of valuable information. Currently the OP's question is being diluted by various off topic responses, or repetitious responses. Unfortunately when this happens to a thread, the information contained becomes diluted and therefore difficult to wade through for future readers, who just want to glean the relevant information from it.
As anarkali has noted "There are a lot of people on this site willing to help you, and I'm sure your experiences travelling in India, shared with IndiaMike, will be very helpful to others who come to the site in future." Excellent point.
This thread has more to do with traveling in India as a transgendered person than "introduce yourself", therefore the title has been changed and the thread moved to India Travel Basics. This will give the thread more exposure to the discussion.
Happy travels AP, hope to hear more from you in the future.

While I can understand why Anna posed this question, she has had had her answer, and as she says she likes to remain low key, she might not want to be defined on here forever more as the member who is trans.
This site will be as useful for her in the future, as it would be for any other woman who is planning to visit India, so if she does stick around presumably she'll rejoin with another name.
Hopefully she'll keep the Anna Paradox login for passing on experiences that would help other MtoF TS visiting India.

Does it really matter if you've had a little bit taken off, or a few extra bits attached under the scheme of things in a travel forum? No - as long as you are comfortable with yourself & the 'services rendered' then it is none of anybody's business really.
I think the best advice has been given already on how to approach India with any special surgery, extra wealth, excessive fame, terrorist activities or any other private business &/or parts of yours. Out of sight, out of mind. KISS - keep it silent stupid.
Most of us Indian travellers already obtain rockstar like status just by walking out of the hotel compound ..... no need to do anything else to attract attention - it will happen and can be as subtle as by the way you move/walk on an Indian street.
With that in mind and as a teeny tiny itty bitty bit of advice for the future , the last thing one should do, especially if one were the 'low key' type as the OP describes - is to post their photo on the world's largest subcontinent travel site with a caption that says 'Don't Read this unless .....' - because that would be like walking down an Indian street with a sign saying 'don't speak to me unless you are a ...'.
Happy Trails!!!
