Yeah, don't cancel! And overcoming your fears will be as rewarding as the trip itself.

It was a real phobia: with that terrible if-I-touch-it-I'll-probably-die intensity of feeling. Except one day I noticed it wasn't there any more! No therapy, no drugs, just went.

...But I never went poking around looking for them! Quite the opposite.
I know this is off topic, but this one here is my worst phobia..........They are regular visitors to my house and not welcome ones either. They are usually despatched to Spider Heaven if I'm quick enough, otherwise the room is vacated until it's safe to return (Their "pet" name is Kalahari Ferrari - as they sure can mooove!!!) Even my dogs avoid them.

...not a 'nice'-looking creature, but maybe it has a heart of gold and never says anything bad about anyone?

Lizzydee - enough of this already! To cancel your trip because you might encounter a few frogs is letting go of a dream to visit one of the most awe-inspiring and fabulous countries on the entire planet. Come to Ireland, you'll physically see many more frogs per acre here than in India! India is not alive with frogs jumping around you! I've been to and traveled around Southern India enough to tell you in truth that in 7 years I've never actually even seen ONE frog - TRUTH - You'd be more likely to be inundated with Macac's, dogs, cows and a few lizards thanfrogs!! Stop looking on the ground and look up at the skies to see the Eagles catching warm Thermals above Towns and Cities!! Quite seriously now, the aforesaid is the truth - you won't be inundated with those little creatures at all. The Backwaters will have a few more, but then you could avoid that part of Kerala - it's a pity, but then you won't be putting yourself in a position where your anxiety will spoil the visit then, will you! There is SO much more to India than the Backwaters - forget them! Alter your itinery and go ahead and travel to India - don't let those creatures win ONE MORE battle - don't let them be the cause of what will turn out to be a lifelong regret and sadness in not going to India because of them.

Thanks Shanthi - I know to most people it will seem like I'm totally crazy! But, the trip is still on!

As someone mentioned on here, I will try the desensitisation theory. I'm draggin my poor boyf to the amphibian house at London Zoo in a few weeks.

So a massive thank you to everyone who has posted on this thread - even the person who put up a picture of a frog!!

3 weeks today and I'll be on that plane!

hey lizzydee, I can't remember to have seen any frogs during my 2 month stay in south India. Not even in the backwaters. So don't worry too much...

I think thats unusual.

In hampi they were everywhere. So tiny tho, literally about the size of the O in the Inda mike logo at the top.

I had a 5-4 in the hut and a chunky toad living under the stuff sack I had dropped on the floor. Then there was the 5-6 Geko's eating but not really making a dent in the 10000000 mozzies that seemed intent on eating me. Then there's the ants...

After living in Asia for a while now, if I didn't have some life in my room I think I'd complain.

i was in india last year and there was one sitting on the handle of the door. it was night time and as i opened it i had the 'pleasure' of touching its cold slimy body! however, the only reason they were so common was beacause my grandparents have a swamp in their back garden (i was more woried about the snakes though ) ....
