u have a peculiar problem

U will definitely encounter them when it rains..little taddies grow up and start croaking in evenings during rainy seasons.

U may come across them in rest rooms as well. There was one fellow who stayed in my home for nearly the entire rainy season last year.

Try to work on ur problem by reading more about frogs in books and websites so that u will get rid of the 'yuck' factor in them. Also try watching some TV programs on Amazon jungles or rain forests that will show a lot of Froggies..along with creepies and crawlies.

This is not just for ur India trip in particular.

Last month: My company's official desktop wallpaper was a Green frog in close-up, better than the one posted by someone in prev reply. I didn't find it that bad.

Think about frog-prince..!

I think you'll be okay, I don't remember seeing any frogs in India (but maybe I just wasn't looking) We did the backwater trip - not a single frog!

I was seriously scared of spiders before I traveled outside of Europe, but then on my first trip to India I saw a HUGE one, really close up, I got so scared I kinda fell down the side of a mountain and hurt my hand. I just wanted to cry afterwards - but ever since then I've gotten better and better at handling "spider encounters". I still don't like them, but I'm okay with them - maybe you should just meet the frogs head on?

I hope you'll have a great trip - frogs or no frogs!

Jeez I am also VERY scared of spiders -only big ones though. I like the really small dark ones that like to jump around a lot on the walls.
Since I moved here and have been in India's BEAUTIFUL countryside a few times I am always preparing myself for the sight of a big one (even making my friends crazy asking for them to check every room, cupboards, closets and bathroom for me)- but luckly I didn't see any of the scary ones... yet
But about frogs, I like them a lot... It's funny that my indian friends from the city are really scared of them, and also of the cute geckos(lizards)

I've heard lots of frogs in India but never have seen them. Wish I had, I really like looking at frogs! (then again, my favorite animal is a camel! ) Again, if you're not afraid of them, maybe you just don't notice them. How about lizards, do you worry about them? There are definitely lots of visible little lizards.

I know there are also snakes in India but I've never seen them either, except snake charmers in Connaught Circle (wonder if they still do that?)

The only thing I've seen lots of are bats. I really like watching those flying foxes, awesome.

You might find one in your bathroom -- they are helpful for insect control Here's a picture I posted in another thread:

Like most small, wild creatures, frogs have an absolute phobia of Lizzies --- and, indeed of most other human beings as well. The vast majority of the ones I've seen have also seen me and left fast. At worst, if cornered, they may try to sit very, very still and hope that you don't notice them. It may also (who knows?) cross their minds to hope that you are a vegetarian.

I just know to be on the look out if I have to walk past a pond/lake etc. And if I see one then I run off in the opposite direction.
OK, you can't stand the poor little, inoffensive creatures: Then why, oh why, be on the lookout for them?

Another common feature of these creatures, on top of their dislike of us (and other big things too) is that they have colour schemes that blend in with their surroundings, and finding them at all near a grass-surrounded pond takes quite a lot of looking.

Anyway; can you run faster than a determined frog? Well, probably not, and it is going to be running. Away from you.

Just forget all about frogs. You might glimpse one occasionally. Say 'boo', it will solve your problem by running away.

I think you'll have more problems with monkeys jumping through your hotel window than frogs............seriously

So that I can avoid them!!! If I see one in the distance then I know not to go near it. And believe me, I am way more scared of them then they are of me!!
And whilst this may not be the most "logical" approach, I think you'll find that's all part and parcel of phobias... Irrational fear!

Thanks for all of the advice, everyone.

I’ve had a frog in my bathroom too – actually on every holiday I’ve been in India. Hope you have no problems with lizards…

Probably you should see a hypnotherapist BEFORE you go on your holiday.

Carry a snake. Snakes eat frogs.
