Thanks for all the useful advice especially the Have Fun 0ne! Of course we will go to Agra and the Taj, just forgot to put it in in all the excitement! That is what its like being over 60!
Health...yes we will be careful, but thinking about the very variable advice.

You guys need to come to Australia. Not a lot of beurocracy really.

You ask once, they say NO.
You ask again, they say Bugger Off.!!

It's one thing I like about living in Oz, the lack of Protocol and high-handedness.

The only people who get treated with the full onslaught of forms, procedures etc, are the people who try to pretend they are better than you.

We aussies really can't bear people who are piss elegant.
Above others in their mind.

Not sure what NSW Local Councils are like but Try Getting a Building Permit here in WA.

And for those of you who don't know what WA stands for

Try = WAIT AWHILE

It's so much simpler here.
Actually, it is. My husband takes a lot of meds that he literally cannot live without. He had to ask for a prescription "vacation overide" to get enough for our 10 week trip. He got what he needed without any paperwork, just a couple of phone calls. Of course, his carry-on daypack was filled to the brim with meds & his self-testing INR monitor (for warfarin levels). No problems, had a great trip!

Carry on seniors, the world is just waiting for us to visit (& spend our $).

Camelgirl, about Warfarin.
Wikipedia has it differently but my sister-in-law, a biochemist at Madison where it was developed, says the name comes from the royalties and stands for Wisconsin Alumni Retirement Fund Investments.

Yeah, it says it stands for Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundations http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiscons...rch_Foundation
and the arin is a reference to coumarin--the plant molocule.

I believe wikipedia this time! Though the other reference probably makes people laugh. Lots of acronyms get changed to be funny/ironic!

My husband likes to joke he takes rat poison (well it is also) just to freak people out who never heard of it. Even though it's a cheap & common med, it's still dangerous which is why he self-tests & adjusts his dosage if it's too high or too low. He's been doing it for 10 years & allows us to travel the world.

Crikey i thought I had a lot of meds.
Mine are for HIV, and if they see them, they won't let me into India.
So I secrete them in my luggage, or put them in different bottles.
They must think I get about fifty headaches a day.

Darn

Lots of reading to catch up with. I have not been getting my notifications. I thought everyone had deserted for the Xmas/new Year period. Only 3 weeks til I fly out too. AND.. I am hobbling around with a swollen and bruised big toe!!
I have pulled my suitcase out from under the bed.. and emptied out and ready to be freshly packed. I too take a lot of medication..numerically that is. Blood pressure pills measured out to the Nth degree by my doctor for me. But no one bothered about them last Feb when I went so hopefully no one will bother about them this time. My chemist gives me a printed detailed account of them all and I carry that around with me.
I hope it warms up some in Delhi by the time I get there. We are having virtually no summer here in my part of NZ. And I am keeping an eye on temps in India and there is some very cold weather happenings.
Back to reading all that I have missed....
Does anyone else not get their new meaage notifications?

Well AZgirl62, you came to the right place. Welcome.

You'll find information on cities, hotels, things to see and do, what to take and what not to take plus hotels, trains, planes, buses, tuk-tuk auto rickshaws and the subway, visa applications, etc.

If you dont see what you need, just ask.

AZ Girl--thoughts? Yes, you'll love it!!
Read through what interests you in Indiamike. Read guidebooks. Do you have any idea where you are going, or WANT to go? Once you post a tentative itinerary, you'll get lots of feedback.
Haev you been to India before? What is your preferred travel style? hotel type? Intersts/ In general, I'd say you should thnk in terms of hiring a a car and driver, and having a good local travel agency (in India) assist you with plans, before you leave the USA.
Check for the area entitled "Introduce yourself" on IM. also, as this particular "over sixty" group is a limited (But VERy special) group of IMers!!! (-:
YOu will have loads of questions over the next months. We aer all here to help!!!

Hello Vee21,
I've been off-forum a while, but our India trip begins in Feb too.
We are flying into Delhi, so we haven't bothered about a visa, will buy one at the airport.
Which places are you visiting? Exciting, isn't it?
