Hostess gift for Wealthy Indian family in US

I am having dinner at the home of an important Indian business man in the US. I am caucasian and would like to bring a hostess gift that shows respect but I dont want to appear like I'm trying too hard. Please help I am clueless!

Yoganikki - I have moved your thread into India for Beginners Forum. It's really one for the Chai and Chat forum but in the meanwhile you don't have enough posts (20) to access this one there, so have done this one for now. Travel News and Commentary is really for major events etc. in India which affect travellors.

Indian sweets are always a good gift to take - they aren't costly, but shows you have given the occasion some thought and respect for your host and hostess. I think they are also safer than a bottle of wine which is the usual bring along gift in Oz or NZ - your wine might not be liked by anyone!
