No Problem! The bloated floating corpses could be used for ballast when you got tired swimming against the current!!!

My Mom, after 20 years of trying, has finally learned to use the VCR Record (clock still flashes at 12:00). She makes it a habit to record some of the more alarming incidents happening in India as seen on BBC world and CNN.

She'll have it queued up when I arrive and exclaim:

"isn't that the place you like to go" ????

Dont go to India because its not fun, not comfortable, not corruption free, not clean and not entertaining. Nor is it cool, hip or young.

If you still go there, do not blame India for being a bad experience.

I get looks from some people like I must be horrible for wanting to go to India and see people in such poverty. "What would you want to see that for?" they say - as though that is the main travel reason that one has for visiting India!

Obviously the other reasons go straight over their heads.

Its all because of the fact that media only is interested in the negative things of India. Nobody (who doesn't know or hasn't read anything about India) in the west will be able to tell something positive about India.....too bad!!!

"Don't go, because I have a friend of a friend of a friend's friend who went, stayed in 18 star hotels and saw rats and cockroaches everywhere."

To which I replied, "It wouldn't surprise me if the name of the hotel was 18 star. But an 18 star hotel? WITH RATS ? This I gotta see!" I had visions of rats circling the diamond-studded pearl pillars holding up a gold cieling.

"Are you going where the bombs went off?"

This is what my grandmother asked me a month before my trip.

My answer:

"No, I'm not planning on going to Oklahoma City or New York City on this trip..."

My mum always freaks out when I mention India.

I did shit through my mouth for 3mths afterwards but I had giardia so it took a while to get rid of and 2 courses of antibiotics. But I am tougher for it!

That scared the hell out of me and I quickly was considering really heeding all these listed warnings (what with Bird flu et al perhaps these type events are becoming possible) when I first glanced at your comment

.. but then I saw your location.

I remembered a similar line from an Aussie colleague when Mike Tyson bit of Evander Holyfield's ear:

"Tyson got the shits with him"

both of them did this together .. at the same time

ohhhhh got really mad at him
